TOWARDS AN ENHANCED TRAINING OFFER FOR THE MARITIME INDUSTRY

Overview of the results of the Training Needs Survey in the Maritime Sector

The maritime industry is constantly evolving, driven by numerous technological advances, regulatory changes and a growing demand for skilled labor. To address these issues, the Comité sectoriel de main-d'oeuvre de l'industrie maritime (CSMOIM) commissioned Groupe DDM to conduct a strategic survey in winter 2024, with financial support from the Commission des partenaires du marché du travail (CPMT).

The project aimed to:

• Identify the training needs of the maritime sector, both at sea and on land
• Guide the actions required to adapt and enrich the initial and continuous training offer
• Prioritize solutions to the maritime industry's current and future skills development challenges

The survey is based on a rigourous approach combining interviews, a virtual survey and a focus group. The results provide a clear roadmap for skills development and the sustainable prosperity of Quebec's maritime industry.
