"All in the same boat" of the labour shortage
On May 9, as part of the Assises québécoises du secteur maritime, the Comité sectoriel de main-d'oeuvre de l'industrie maritime presented the main results of its most recent Labour Force Diagnostic, which will be released in full in June.
This diagnosis reveals, among other things, that our industry is made up of 8,200 indirect jobs and 15,228 direct jobs filled out of a total of 16,147 positions, resulting in approximately 5.1% of direct positions currently vacant.
We invite you to consult the article "Tous dans le même bateau" (All in the same boat) on the labour shortage, published on May 10, 2023 in Le Soleil and written by Mr. Paul-Robert Raymond, which highlights various topics discussed during this 3rd edition of the Assises, including the labour shortage that does not spare the maritime industry.
