A Resounding Success for the 24th Edition of Quebec Maritime Day
Quebec City, October 23, 2024—The St. Lawrence Economic Development Council (Sodes) has issued a positive assessment of the 24th edition of the Quebec Marine Day (QMD), held yesterday, October 22, 2024. Organized in collaboration with Green Marine, the St. Lawrence Shipoperators, the Comité sectoriel de main-d'oeuvre de l'industrie maritime (CSMOIM) and the Quebec government, the event once again confirmed its role as a strategic platform for Quebec's maritime industry.
Under the theme ''Strategic reinforcement of the St. Lawrence'', the JMQ created a constructive dialogue between the various players in the maritime sector and political decision-makers. In all, 80 maritime stakeholders took part in over 15 meetings focusing on critical issues such as investment in maritime infrastructures, decarbonization of transport, renewal of economic strategies and social acceptability.
In addition, the closing cocktail reception brought together nearly 225 participants, creating opportunities for collaboration and dialogue on the development and strategic reinforcement of the St. Lawrence.
Mathieu St-Pierre, President-CEO of the Sodes, comments: ''This year's event clearly demonstrated the importance of consolidating relations between the maritime sector and government bodies to ensure the sustainable development and competitiveness of our industry. The St. Lawrence plays a vital role in the North American supply chain, and it's by working together that we can maximize its potential.''
